The British Korfball Association (BKA) along with the Welsh Korfball Association (WKA), English Korfball Association (EKA),  and the Scottish Korfball Association (SKA) are delighted to announce a joint agreement that covers the development of the Level 2 coaching course.

The BKA and the Home Nations acknowledge the importance of coaching in growing the sport within the UK, and the need to ensure that the standard and delivery of coaching remain consistent between countries.

To develop a level 2 qualification; the BKA have established a National Source Group.

The Source Group will be chaired by Katherine Robinson (England Korfball Coaching Lead) and will have representatives with expertise in coaching from Scotland, Wales and England. The group will represent the views and needs of their home country association.

In addition, the Coaching Education Work Group (CEWG) will lead on developing the learning programme, technical resources and working directly with key agencies (1st4Sport, Ofqual) to establish the course. The resources and learning programme will then be approved by the Source Group to ensure it’s fit for purpose. This approach ensures that key resources can be shared and re-used across the UK.

Once the qualification, resources and learning programme have been developed it will be the responsibility of each National Governing Body to organise, run and manage coaching courses and the development of their coaching workforce. To support this process the BKA are investing initially in the development of the resource and supporting all the NGBs in training their coaching workforce.

The first meeting of the Source Group will be in May and the CEWG has begun work on developing courses. Both the Source Group and CEWG aim to trial the first level 2 course in the autumn.
